Diagnostic Services

Alpine Animal Hospital is equipped with in-house lab equipment, Digital X-ray equipment, and an Ultrasound.  These features allow us to obtain a quicker diagnosis when treating your pet. As a pet owner, you might recognize when your pet isn't feeling well but it's hard to determine why. The staff at Alpine Animal Hospital are committed to helping you get a full picture of your pet's health through diagnostic and laboratory testing, improving outcomes and providing baseline results. 

Laboratory and Blood Testing

Annual blood testing helps us determine a normal baseline for your pet. Trending these results over time allows us to diagnose problems early, increasing the likelihood of timely intervention and recovery. Lab testing can also reveal the presence of certain illnesses or diseases and rule others out. ​

Electrocardiogram (EKG)

An EKG is a painless test used to diagnose cardiac abnormalities, such as an enlarged heart, heart murmur, congestive heart failure, or irregular heart rhythm. EKGs can also help determine if your pet’s heart is strong enough to undergo anesthesia.  ​

X-Rays and Ultrasound

Using radiography, we are able to produce high-quality diagnostic images of your pet’s tissues, organs, and bones. X-rays help us look for arthritis, broken bones, foreign objects, dental issues, enlarged organs, or respiratory dysfunction. ​Ultrasound technology allows us to generate images of your pet’s internal body structures, such as muscles, tendons, joints, internal organs, and blood vessels.

Tonometry

This non-invasive diagnostic test measures the intraocular pressure inside your pet’s eye and is used to test for glaucoma and uveitis. Increased pressure in your pet’s eye can be dangerous and tonometry is an easy way to check the pressure without having to sedate your pet.
